Edmond sits north of Oklahoma City in Oklahoma County, with I-35 along its east side and the Broadway Extension of US 77 running up from downtown. It began as a Santa Fe railway stop and was platted in the 1889 Land Run, and the University of Central Oklahoma has operated here since territorial days. Building pushed north and east from the original grid through the later twentieth century, out toward Arcadia Lake.
