Hurst occupies the Loop 820 and SH 183 junction at the west end of the mid-cities, where North East Mall anchors a regional retail concentration. Bell has manufactured helicopters at its Hurst plant since the 1950s, and Pipeline Road, the city's original east-west spine, still runs the length of town. Most housing dates from the 1960s through the 1980s in the curvilinear subdivision pattern of that era, with little vacant land remaining.
