The National Polka Festival, rooted in the area's Czech settlement history, has been held there over Memorial Day weekend since the 1960s. The Texas Motorplex drag strip sits south of town and Lake Bardwell lies just west, and the legislature named Ennis the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas for its marked spring trails.
