Greenville is the Hunt County seat, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas where I-30 meets US 69 and US 380. It grew as a cotton and rail hub, and its inland cotton compress set a bale-processing record in 1912; a 1929 Art Moderne courthouse still anchors the downtown square. Majors Field opened as an Army Air Corps base in 1942 and now houses both the municipal airport and L3Harris's aircraft modification work. Housing here runs much older than in the Collin County suburbs, and Greenville ISD serves the city.
