Westlake is a small town straddling the Tarrant and Denton county line along SH 114, and it is structurally unlike anything else in the county: the town itself holds the charter for Westlake Academy, the only municipally operated open-enrollment charter school in Texas. Its nonresidential base is built around the Solana office campus, Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments and Deloitte University. Residential land is limited to a handful of platted subdivisions on estate-sized lots plus the Entrada mixed-use district, and addresses fall into Carroll, Keller or Northwest ISD.
Westlake sits in Tarrant County, where the combined property tax rate runs about 2.06 percent of market value for the 2025 tax year, ranging 1.85 to 2.40 percent depending on the school district. On a $350,000 home with a homestead exemption that works out to roughly $480 a month. The Texas homestead exemption reduces only the school district portion, not the county or city portion, which is the detail most online estimates miss.
